History
I began my career as a U.S Coast Guard Reservist in 1981. After receiving my bachelor’s degree in aeronautical engineering as well as my Honorable Discharge in 1987, I worked at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head, MD, where I went to graduate school in the evenings and obtained my master’s degree in systems analysis and management. After 8 years of experience in weapons manufacturing, design, systems integration, acquisition and Foreign Military Sales, I worked at TRW System Services Company, supporting the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization as a senior systems engineer performing data collection and analysis for live-fire missile exercises. In 1998, I relocated to New York City to support the Y2K Upgrade Initiative at The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Following a few years of information technology program management consulting engagements, I spent over a decade as Manager, New Technology Application Safety in the Office of System Safety at Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) New York City Transit, where I helped in the systems integration efforts for Communications Based Train Control (CBTC). I also led Quality and Safety Audits for new work and passenger rail car procurements. While at the MTA, I obtained my license as a mechanical engineer, as well as my Certified Safety Professional (CSP) credential. I also published the book: “Systems Engineering and Safety: Building the Bridge” (Taylor & Francis/CRC Press). I formed GlisWorks Engineering & Consulting, PLLC in 2006. I have built a set of interdisciplinary engineering skills across several verticals, and my company offers professional engineering and consulting services to a wide array of clients.
